Hello, Wonderful Creatives and Designers,
I’ve been pondering about what keeps our creative hearts beating. This reflection sparked an exciting idea a couple of years ago, and it’s coming to fruition again this spring!
🥁 Introducing the Creative Break, a getaway designed for us, designers, creative leaders, dreamers, thinkers, and entrepreneurs. On May 9–12, in Cesme, on the sunny Aegean coast of Turkey
Is the idea of taking a break purely for yourself intriguing to you? Do you feel resistance, if you actually deserve a break?

Why am I hosting the Creative Break?
I had two long sabbaticals. 2 months each time.
My first sabbatical was after 10 years of constant working, in March’19.
Slowing down healed me from a neurological problem (in only 3 weeks), that didn’t have a cure in western medicine. It also gave me a second passion along with design: holistic wellbeing.
After my first sabbatical, I changed the way I work to support the way I live. This is when I moved to working as a freelance design lead, from in-house design management.
My second sabbatical was three years later, in September’22. I took it just because I knew there was going to be magic in it. And yes! So many gifts came into my life again.
After the second sabbatical, I’ve changed the way I work again, this time to have more integrity. Now my design work focuses on the niche of wellbeing. On the other side, my wellbeing practices focus more and more on creativity. There were also big relationships and life shifts, which made my life wholesome in every way.
Slowing down creates space for reflection, understanding your true self, unexpected connections, serendipity, and magic.
In years I’ve collected a toolkit of eastern healing and western design thinking methodologies, that my life is based on. My intention is to share a glimpse of the learnings from my that we can experience together at the Creative Break.
Who’s the Creative Break For?
You, the creative, the designer, who see the world not for what it is but for what it could be.
I know, it needs encouragement to just take time off for yourself. Believe me, it pays off in ways you cannot imagine before taking a break.
I can tell you that: You deserve a break 💛
Why now?
So much change is happening in the world and the creative industry: AI, layoffs, climate change, the topic of designing for a positive change… We are looking to balance our personal needs, values, and our professinal lives during all the change that’s happenning.
Only yesterday a dear freelance designer friend was saying: “How do I stay close to my own values, if I work inhouse design manager again.” I don’t think it has to be that way, and I would love to share my methods, thoughts and hear yours at the Creative Break.

I’m buzzing with excitement at the thought of us, under the stars, or by the morning light, sharing stories, dreams, and laughter. About Today: Started my day with Playing Big & Art
I’m in London these days. I’ve started the day by reading “Playing Big: For Women Who Want to Speak Up, Stand Out and Lead” by Tara Mohr, and doing the inner mentor meditation from the book. It’s been a deep experience to meet my 20 years in the future self in that meditation.

Meditation Recommendation: Inner Mentor Meditation by Tara Mohr
Then I went to the art studio of my dear friend
, the artist behind most of the Design Being events. She started giving painting classes, and I’m learning to paint on canvas and with acrylic.Art Course Recommendation: Belmin’s Painting Course
